Northern Virginia Mushroom Cultivation Workshop

Learn how to grow several different types of mushrooms using low-tech, low-cost methods in your garden.

Discussion will cover:  biology and ecology of fungi; using mushrooms for personal and ecological health; methods for cultivating shiitake, oyster, lion’s mane, reishi, and other mushrooms in wood, straw, and compost.

Watch and try your hand at inoculating a tree log for mushroom cultivation.  Bring clean, 100% cotton cast-off clothing:  a pair of jeans or a couple of t-shirts.  You’ll take these home in bag inoculated with oyster mushroom culture.
